Hello and welcome to our website for Educational Diversity.

We are a Pupil Referral Unit and a Home, Hospital Education Service in Blackpool supporting young people from ages 6 to 16 who are unable to access mainstream provision due to either social, emotional, behavioural or medical needs.

I am thrilled to be the Headteacher at Educational Diversity, it is a wonderful place and I am delighted to be leading it. Our staff team at Educational Diversity are very proud of our young people, valuing their strengths and talents, and committed to giving them the best opportunities.

We are always looking at increasingly better ways to support, motivate and inspire our young people to be as successful as possible in the future. Our students come to us at various points of their schooling- often as a result of their previous school placement having broken down, through ill-health, behaviour issues or other difficulties. Our young people frequently feel less than positive about themselves and their life chances. It is our responsibility to do whatever we can to help them get back on track, either through a return to mainstream schooling or by completing their education with us, so that they emerge prepared to make a positive contribution wherever they go onto next. Our dedicated team of highly skilled professionals provide a holistic approach to learning in support of both the academic and the pastoral needs of our young people.

We have 2 main sites of our provision:

  • Pegasus–  is where the Pupil Referral element is delivered and it is situated on Bathurst Avenue.  Pegasus supports young people from KS2 to KS4 who have either been permanently excluded from their mainstream school or are at risk of exclusion. On this site we also deliver our alternative programmes in collaboration with external providers.
  • Athena– is situated on Whitegate Drive and is where our Home & Hospital education is based. This supports young people with medical or emotional needs, who are supported through CAMHS and medical practitioners. Our REACH provision is also based at our Athena centre. This offers short term placement and reintegration. REACH aims to make positive behaviour change for young people at risk of exclusion.

Our vision demonstrates our commitment to work in partnership with the young people, their families and other agencies to improve the outcomes and equip each one of them with the skills to make a positive contribution to society.

“With confidence we learn, through challenge we grow, through commitment we achieve and together, we take control and realise our dreams”.

I hope you enjoy the website and find it useful. If you have any questions or you would like further information, please do not hesitate in contacting me directly.
