Educational Diversity holds enhanced Criminal Record Certificates from the DBS for all members of the Local Governing Body members, these are all held on the schools single central register.
Local Governing Body Information and Duties
The Educational Diversity Local Governing Board (LGB), in partnership with the Head Teacher, provides the overall strategic leadership of the school. The Board’s membership includes parents, staff, and professionals from a range of backgrounds. The full Local Governing Board meets once each term.
The Local Governing Board works collectively as a team to ensure the school delivers an outstanding quality of education for all young people. It is committed to a relentless drive to equip every pupil for the demands of the twenty-first century, maintaining the highest expectations of what each individual can achieve.
Together with the Head Teacher, the Local Governing Board sets the school’s aims and policies. The Head Teacher is responsible for the day-to-day management and operational leadership of the school.
The Local Governing Board is accountable to parents, the local community, and Synergy Academy Trust. Appointments to the Board are for a four-year term of office.
Responsibilities of the Local Governing Body
The Local Governing Body:
- Is accountable for the performance of the school to parents, the local community, and Synergy Academy Trust
- Determines the school’s strategic direction and future development
- Supports the recruitment and appointment of the Head Teacher
- Oversees the school’s budget, staffing structure, and performance management policy
- Ensures the agreed curriculum is effectively delivered
- Promotes pupils’ spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development
- Ensures the school provides for all young people, including those with additional needs
The Role of Governors
Governors are central to the effective operation of the school. They both support and challenge the Head Teacher by:
- Gathering and reflecting stakeholder views
- Asking constructive and strategic questions
- Engaging in informed discussion about what is best for the school
Governors must be willing to offer and receive advice and are expected to uphold and support collective decisions made by the Board. Provided they act lawfully and take appropriate advice, governors are protected from personal financial liability for decisions made in their official capacity.
Members of the Educational Diversity Local Governing Board take an active role in the life of the school.
Register of Interests
Governors are required to register any relevant pecuniary or business interests, including those of immediate family members (and partners), that could potentially conflict with their duties.
All members confirm that they have read the guidance regarding the Register of Pecuniary or Business Interests and have declared whether any conflicts exist.
