Dear Parents and Carers,
RE: End of Year Letter to Parents and Carers
As we reach the end of another enriching and eventful term, I want to take a moment to reflect on the many achievements across our school community. It has been a year of growth, opportunity and continued collaboration, all of which have played a vital role in supporting our students to thrive academically, socially, and personally. I am incredibly proud of the way our students have engaged with a range of opportunities and grateful to our staff and families for their unwavering support throughout the year.
One of the real highlights has been the breadth of enrichment activities that have brought learning to life beyond the classroom. From sporting events to educational visits and student-led projects, these experiences have helped to harness confidence, curiosity and a deeper sense of belonging. Whether through exploring new places, developing talents or engaging in teamwork, our students have embraced these moments with energy and enthusiasm.
Our commitment to preparing young people for their futures has remained a strong focus. This year our careers programme has continued to grow, with students participating in meaningful work placements, employer talks and college taster sessions. These have provided vital insight into the world of work and further education, empowering students to think boldly about their aspirations and next steps.
We were also proud to launch our student council this year. A fantastic new platform for student voice and leadership. Our council members have already made a strong impact, most notably through their participation in the Blackpool-wide youth symposium, where they represented our school with confidence, passion and thoughtful insight. Their contributions are helping shape not only our school’s direction, but wider conversations across the town.
We also take this opportunity to celebrate and say goodbye to our Year 11 students. They have shown great resilience, maturity and determination throughout the year, especially during the exam period. It has been a privilege to watch them grow into confident, capable young people, ready to embark on the next stage of their journey, whether that be college, sixth form, apprenticeships, or employment. We wish them every success and happiness for the future and they leave with our heartfelt congratulations.
Looking ahead, there is much to be excited about. In the new academic year, we will be introducing a new rewards system to further celebrate and recognise student achievement across all aspects of school life. We are also looking forward to implementing important curriculum developments, which will offer even more opportunities for students to develop life skills and employability skills. This includes new and enhanced provision through catering, the Skills Builder programme, wider vocational courses and a strong focus on personal development. These additions are all part of our continued commitment to empowering every child to thrive and flourish.
As I have previously communicated, Educational Diversity has been working towards joining Synergy Education Trust as part of our academy conversion. While we had hoped this transition would be complete before the start of the new academic year, there is likely to be a short delay as the Local Authority, Synergy Education Trust and the Department for Education continue to work through the final formalities. We remain fully committed to the move and will keep families updated with progress in the early part of the autumn term.
School term ends on Friday 18th July at 1pm. Packed lunches will be available for students as they leave school.
Students return to school on Wednesday 3rd September, and we look forward to seeing them ready for another successful year. As a reminder, all students are expected to return in full school uniform. Please refer to the school website for our uniform expectations and guidance https://eddiversity.com/information/uniform
Thank you, as always, for your support and partnership. It is through this shared commitment that our students continue to flourish. I wish you and your families a restful, safe and enjoyable break, and we look forward to the new academic year with great optimism and ambition.
Warmest regards,
Vic O’Farrell
Headteacher of Educational Diversity
